However, the way to build this island still exists many shortcomings. In 1986, a violent storm devastated most of the island on the lake and forced residents to live closer to the shore. However, nowadays, nearly 1,200 Uros people are still living in more than 60 islands on Titicaca Lake. And it has become one of the tourist destinations attracting a lot of tourists to visit.
Madagascar Island
Madagascar has become familiar with many people who love the series of Madagascar, the famous film of Dream Works. And of course, this is one of the most special islands on the earth. Located on Indian Ocean, Madagascar is dubbed as a subcontinent with a diverse ecosystem. More astounding, with 90% of the fauna and flora of Madagascar are endemic and cannot be found anywhere else.
One of the most prominent species in the archipelago that is baobab tree whose shape is similar to a carrot with luxuriant foliage and its height can reach up to 24 meters. Besides, there are thousands of species of plants and other famous species such as lemurs, rare orchids ... However, with a particular ecosystem like that, conservation and prevention them from degradation and extinction are the big problems for the authorities here. The pressure of political instability and poverty has led to poaching of wildlife and illegal logging taking place on a large scale in Madagascar.
Alcatraz Island - United States
If you are a fan of Harry Potter, you definitely cannot forget the name of this island - Alcatraz. Alcatraz Island is an island located in the San Francisco Bay on the Pacific. This island was once the lighthouse, then it became a federal prison where detains notorious criminals mafia and serial killers, including "Machine Gun" Kelly, a bank robber, Al Capone – a gangster and the murder Robert "Birdman". This is also the place where happened the notorious prison escape in American history, that is the escape of three inmates that the leader is Frank Morris. However, in 1963, the prison was closed and became a tourist attraction for visitors.
Easter Island
Easter Island is an isolated island located in Chile to the South Pacific. The reason that the island is named "Easter" is it was discovered by the Dutch captain - Roggeveen on Easter day in 1722. Easter Island is famous not only by the pristine natural beauty but also by its mysterious stories related to the Moai statues and Rongorongo language that has not been deciphered.
The residents living on Easter Island have created their own writing system - Rongorongo, which is different from the writing systems in the world. Until now, linguists have not been able to decrypt it. One more surprising thing is that most of the inhabitants of the other islands in the Pacific Ocean are even illiterate, and the Indian people cannot write.
On the island, there are about 900 giant statues, known as "moai", including paintings which are 10 meters high and weigh 82 tons, carved from volcanic rock. Now, there is no exact answer for the question that who had built these unique statues.
