6 days for a trip to Myanmar is not short, but if you do not schedule a
reasonable itinerary, you will miss many beautiful landscapes of this beautiful
country.
The first day: Visiting the golden icon
Shwedagon in Yangon city
From your country, you fly straight to the
city of Yangon in the afternoon, eat fast food at the airport or bring
sandwiches, sausages, cheese from your country. Finishing quick your lunch, you
walk out and hire a taxi, go into the city center to visit the golden icon
Shwedagon. Tip to save money for taxi is that you are hard to walk from the
arrival station to the departure station in which you can pay the price with
the driver.
You can change currency into Kyat in your country, or switch from the dollar to Kyat at the bank at the international airport Yangon at the negligible exchange rate difference.
After 30 minutes away from the airport, the
car will stop in front of the entrance of Shwedagon Pagoda. The temple has 4 gates: east, west, south, and north. International travelers must go by the south gate and pay fee.
In the temple, you avoid wearing short pants, sleeveless shirt. For women, if you wear short pants, you need to bring scarves
which are big enough to wrap around your waist, cover your legs. Regardless of the Buddhist believers or visitors, all must
take off their shoes and socks, and only go with barefoot to visit the Buddha.
Shwedagon Pagoda is the golden symbol of
Myanmar and is the most sacred spirit destination of the people here. The
reason of calling Shwedagon pagoda as the golden symbol because it is 2,500
years-old and plated 90 tons of gold, thousands of diamond, rubies and precious
stones. Surrounding the tower is hundreds of small towers. Each tower is a
unique structure in the overall harmony. In some corners of the temple, people
have put the binoculars to help visitors clearly observe the 76 carat diamond
attached on the top.
In the afternoon, you move to the bus station
AungMinga larto departure to the ancient city of Bagan.
Day
2 & 3: Explore the ancient city Bagan which is mystical and peaceful.
The 11-13th century is the most flourishing
time of Bagan land, with more than 14,000 terracotta temples. Through these
historic events with the earthquake in 1975, there are just over 2,000 Bagan temples under the immense shadow of the trees having the
fragrant smell as magnolia.
Vehicles often go to Bagan at 4 am. The
ancient city is the most beautiful one in time of the spring because of the
cool weather and there are balloons for tourist to experience. And in the
summer, the ground is extreme hot like the arid desert.
You should rent stagecoach to visit the
typical temples in Old Bagan area (this is the area having the temples which was preserved) from early morning to late
afternoon. But the next day, you should rent a bike, roam around every corner and feel the tranquility in
the ancient capital of Bagan land. (To be continued)
